US forces board sanctioned ship transporting oil from Iran

The US intercepted a sanctioned ship transporting Iranian oil on Thursday, local time.

Dramatic imagery shows US troops descending in the tanker from a helicopter in the Indian Ocean, far from the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile Donald Trump has said he has “ordered” the US navy to “shoot and kill any boats” that attempt to lay mines in the strait.

There have been concerns that Tehran may be mining areas of the waterway furthest from Iran’s shores to push vessels into its territorial waters where it can have more control over shipping movements.

The US president has also said that Iran was “having a hard time figuring out who their leader is”.
