A NSW Police recruit is being investigated over an allegation he sexually assaulted a female colleague at the force’s training academy at Goulburn.
Police received a report of an alleged sexual assault at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn on Sunday, a spokesperson said.
“The alleged female victim, who is a student at the academy, is receiving support and welfare assistance from academy staff as the investigation continues,” NSW Police said in a statement.
A male student at the academy has been suspended as the investigation continues.
NSW Premier Chris Minns said the allegation is “concerning”, yet he refrained from making further comments as the matter will likely be brought before the courts.
“(It’s) very concerning,” Mr Minns said.
“It’s likely to be before the courts soon, I want to make sure that takes precedence over commentary from me.
“The NSW Police fraternity will be working with and supporting with everything they can do (for) the alleged victim involved.
“I’m thinking about her today.”
More to come.
