The closure was also causing delays on the Airport, Ellenbrook and Fremantle Lines.

One passenger on the train at the time of the collision said he was “flying” 2 to 3 metres in the air after the crash and that people were screaming and fell to the floor.

Main Roads WA warned Meadow Street was closed in both directions at Great Eastern Highway.

“About 3.55, police received reports that a train and truck had collided at the Meadow Street railway crossing in Guildford,” a WA Police spokesperson said.

“There appear to be no life-threatening injuries. Inquiries are ongoing.”

The truck was believed to have been carrying a bobcat. The force of the crash smashed the train’s windscreen and debris was thrown onto nearby vehicles.

Two toddlers and their mother were given the all clear by paramedics after the incident, while one woman and two teenagers were taken to separate hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Other passengers were forced to wait for an hour before they could get off the train.

A Perth Transport Association spokesperson said they the truck “failed to clear the level crossing on Meadow Street, which then was hit by a Transperth train.

They said delays were expected on the Midland line.

All trains to Midland were stopping at Bassendean.

“Bus replacement services are being organised between Bayswater and Midland, but trains will continue to run between Perth and Bayswater,” they said.
