Virgin Australia has introduced a new flight search tool that allows travellers to view cash fares, points plus pay and velocity frequent flyer reward seats in a single calendar view.
The airline said the tool was designed to make comparing options and planning trips faster and more straightforward.
The points calendar is being rolled out gradually from Tuesday, which the airline says is an “Australian first”.
It shows available flights across dates and cabin types, alongside reward seat availability — all in one interface.
Virgin Australia general manager Alex Plummer said customers were typically limited to searching one route at a time, which could make it difficult to compare options and find the best value.
“This changes that, where for the first time, customers can see every available way to book flights in a single calendar view, unlocking far greater choice across dates and fares,” Mr Plummer said.
“It’s a step change in the booking experience, giving customers a simpler, more transparent way to find the flights that work best for them.”
The tool will appear progressively on the airline’s website and app, with full rollout expected by mid-2026.
In the future, the calendar will include international partner airline flights.
The launch follows Virgin Australia’s previous technology-focused initiatives, including pets in cabin flights on some domestic routes, baggage tracking and middle seat reward programs.
It also builds on the airline’s OpenAI collaboration, aimed at helping customers plan and shop for travel using ChatGPT.
