A 34-year-old IT worker was midway through downloading a trove of pedophilic material when police raided his home over child abuse fears.

Vikneshkumar Thangaraj was arrested in May last year after information was provided to the State Crime Command’s Child Internet Exploitation Unit, which led to a search of his Lavington home.

Court documents obtained by news.com.au reveal that during the raid, an officer found a folder being downloaded via the application uTorrent on Thangaraj’s iPad.

The folder was 38 per cent downloaded and titled: “Full Pack Pedo Mom”.

The documents state that Thangaraj admitted to police that he had started to download the folder.

During the raid, police found hundreds of child abuse and bestiality files on Thangaraj’s electronic devices, which involved children as young as two.

He declined to participate in an interview with police, with officers finding a total of 436 files.

He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with possessing child abuse material and possessing bestiality material.

Thangaraj faced the NSW District Court on March 13 for sentencing, where he was made a registrable person under the Child Protection Act for eight years.

Under the act, a registrable person must report to the police regularly and declare any plans to travel to the police. They must gain approval for international travel.

Police are also permitted to conduct unannounced visits to the person’s home.

A copy of Thangaraj’s order and notice was also provided to the NSW Police Commissioner.

At the time of his arrest, Thangaraj worked in IT for Spider Networking at a business in nearby Wangaratta.
