Inflation in the US has surged by its highest amount in three years – longer than Donald Trump has been in office.
The US released April inflation figures which showed it has raised year-on-year by 3.8 per cent. Inflation is now rising faster than wages just months out from the crucial midterm elections.
But inflation in the US is still below that in Australia.
The US President will head to Beijing on Tuesday, US time, to meet China’s Xi Jinping.
High on Mr Trump’s agenda will be asking China to use its influence over Tehran to bring the Iran conflict to some kind of conclusion. High of Beijing’s agenda will be loosening the US’ support of Taiwan, particularly a huge new weapons deal that is currently on Mr Trump’s desk to sign off on.
