Welcome to our live coverage of US news including the war with Iran and the King’s visit with Donald Trump.

Advisers to the US president are increasingly concerned the Iran conflict is becoming “frozen” with Tehran not willing to give Washington the compromises it wants. That, in turn, could see the Strait of Hormuz closed for an extended period.

King Charles shares weird handshake with Donald Trump

But Mr Trump, talking on Tuesday, US time, said a desperate Iran was in a “state of collapse”. and desperately wanted the critical waterway open.

Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance has reportedly said he is concerned President Trump is being “misled” by the US Defence Department over the war.

In a shock fuel move, the United Arab Emirates has left the oil cartel OPEC.

The group includes some of the biggest oil producers in the world, including Saudi Arabia, who have been able to co-ordinate prices.

Donald Trump has accused OPEC of “ripping off” the rest of the world.

While the US and Iranian blockades are still in place, one notable vessel has finagled its way through the strait. A superyachts owned by a Russian oligarch found its way out of the waterway free of Iranian or American interference.

In Washington DC, King Charles will address Congress and talk of how Britain and America have overcome differences in the past, in a fairly obvious plea to Mr Trump to not rip up the “special relationship’.
