Welcome to our live coverage of the US and Israel’s war with Iran.

Donald Trump has warned that Iran “better get serious soon” about talks with the US or face unspecified consequences.

“The Iranian negotiators are very different and ‘strange.’ They are ‘begging’ us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only ‘looking at our proposal’,” Mr Trump wrote in a statement on Truth Social.

“WRONG!!! They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!”

On Monday, Mr Trump claimed the US had been having “very good” talks with Tehran, but Iranian officials have insisted all week that no negotiations are taking place, even mocking the leader for “negotiating with himself”.

“At present, our policy is the continuation of resistance,” Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on state TV late on Wednesday.

“Speaking of negotiations now is an admission of defeat.”

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the killing of Iranian naval commander Alireza Tangsiri in “yet another example of the co-operation” between Israel and the US, as their war with Iran rages on.

Despite US-Israeli air strikes that have killed its top leaders and inflicted huge material damage, Iran’s governing system remains in place and it retains the ability to fire missiles and drones at its neighbours and Israel.

Air raid sirens sounded and explosions rang out in several areas of Israel on Thursday as Iran launched multiple missiles, the military said, adding that the projectiles had been intercepted.
