Race 1
6. Hunter One is an emerging provincial-based filly that can make the step up and go back-to-back at her third start. Swept home for a dominant maiden win when returning for her first outing since spring. Gets down to the limit weight for the rise in class and is drawn to get a cosy run just off speed. 2. Falcon Gold is a progressive Canberra three-year-old that rises in class shooting for a third win from four starts this prep. 1. Sooo Crazy is a capable four-year-old, and big market watch, resuming off a handy trial win. 5. Eternal Ember won two from three in her first campaign and resumes behind two quiet Kembla trials. Lightly raced 4. Eltrum, at much bigger odds, improves sharply at only his third start.

Race 2
3. Pleasurize is a progressive Canberra mare that can resume with a bang and take her winning strike-rate to an impressive 50 per cent from eight starts. Ran them off their feet to win a Class 2 before being collared late when stepping up to this grade. Then ridden from just off speed and missing by a half-length here against similar opposition when closing out the prep last spring. Hasn’t publicly trialled but work has been good and she comes to hand quickly. 8. Christmas Star is a home tracker that rarely runs a bad one and was good late behind a dominant BM 66 winner here last time. 4. Unravel is another Canberra visitor that finds an easier race second-up. 10. Zoutempus is better placed here after winning two straight at a weaker country level before failing to finish off in provincial company from a tougher draw. 1. Doogan’s Design drops in grade second-up, but still weighted to her best. Watch for any money first-up around 5. Caravanserai returning off a soft trial.

Race 3
2. Step Quick is an honest and improving four-year-old resuming. Did his best work late second-up at Albury in spring and returns in a weak maiden likely to be dominated by Canberra gallopers. Has a 40 per cent record in the placings from 13 starts. 9. Stormy Reign has shown versatility in finding the line two runs back from a spell and is well in at the weights after the jockey’s claim. 7. Artful Lady can improve sharply, resuming in a race with little or no depth, and on a much bigger track. Watch the betting on 6. Zee Sort, a mare by Tassort having her first start for an under-rated country stable behind a handy trial. Gap to the rest.

Race 4
3. Star Bling has been in and around the money in generally deeper BM 58s since a fast-finishing and dominant Class 2 win here. Will likely go well back from the outside gate, but she’s a strong finisher with a class edge in what is an open but thinner line-up. 7. Exceed Success is over the odds stepping up from a handy third-up win in weaker class. 2. Fire And Gemstone, which beat the top selection here six weeks ago; 6. Evokes, second-up from a good draw; and 9. I Doubt It, which is hard fit, can all add value into trifecta and first fours.

Race 5
8. Casino Shaw is a consistent South Coast mare which rates on top third-up in another open and restricted race. Led for a long way when resuming in a handy Class 1 before again close-up here in a similar race after being backed from $2.70 into $2.15. Peaks now over a furlong further. 2. Walk The Pier finished well first-up in Class 2 company and, despite drawing wide, is capable of running over them at this distance. 3. Cossack Warrior has beaten all but the winner in three runs back from a break and is again drawn to roll forward and park right on speed. 7. Miss Scoop is a sparingly raced mare placed in her last couple, while Victorian visitor 1. Villa Seventynine drops in grade fourth-up with blinkers back on, but burdened with a big weight from a wide draw.

Race 6
1. Hold My Drink is a progressive provincial-based four-year-old primed to break through second-up off a lengthy break, especially with one of the main market rivals being preferred at Sunday’s Gundagai meeting. Tracked the speed before missing narrowly here, and naturally fitter, he can dominate from another handy trailing draw. 4. Initiate was close up in two handy maidens before a poor effort at this track last time. 7. Bikini Babe is a provincial-based filly by Sandbar on debut behind a fair trial.
How to play it: Hold My Drink to win.
Race 7
8. Go Commando is a lightly raced Canberra three-year-old well placed to strike third-up in another open battle. Showed enough second-up improvement in a smarter BM 58, and blinkers being added is timely. Scratched from Gundagai on Sunday to run here. 9. Inchyra is a threat after finishing best to claim her maiden here off a long break. 12. Ciao Bella Mia resumes from the inside barrier off a handy provincial trial. 1. Bon’s Your Back comes back in grade, and is knocking on the door after three runs in deeper races across Victoria, but like the stablemate earlier on the program has to carry a big weight. 3. Shyamalan comes off an all-the-way 3rd-up win in a very weak BM 58.
