Disturbing footage has emerged of a Melbourne pharmacist being punched in the face in his own shop.
Russel Frajman has worked in St Kilda for over 30 years and was trying to ask a customer to leave his store when he was allegedly attacked on Tuesday.
CCTV footage shows the alleged offender yelling, “What are you gonna f**king do? Ring the coppers?”, before he swings at Mr Frajman, knocking him backwards.
The 65-year-old was left with a black eye and stitches after the attack which took place at about midday.
“We’ve worked so hard for so many years, we feel like metaphorically and physically we’re getting punched in the face,” his wife Charlotte told Nine News.
She said she called triple-zero but police were too busy to attend the scene. She made five calls to emergency services in total and said she was only visited by police the following day.
Victoria Police told news.com.au that at the time of the assault all units were tied up with multiple incidents, including the arrest of a drug dealer.
“Officers contacted the victim via phone to explain the situation and initiate reports before being able to attend,” a spokesperson said.
“Police continue to investigate the incident and have attended the pharmacy today to offer support to the victim.
“Victoria Police understands this was a distressing incident and acknowledges the concerns of the victim.”
