A 19-year-old man has allegedly assaulted a paramedic who was helping the injured teen after a crash in a stolen vehicle.
Police allege the teen was travelling in a stolen Mazda 3 with three other people when it collided with a Volkswagen Jetta at the Nicholson St and Victoria Parade intersection in Carlton just before 6am on Saturday.
Two boys from the Mazda fled the scene, but a 19-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were injured in the crash.
“While en route to hospital, the (older) teen assaulted a paramedic who required treatment for their injuries,” a police spokesman said.
“It’s believed the Mazda was stolen from Mulgrave on March 21.”
A 66-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman from Terang were travelling in the Volkswagen and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police are searching for two boys who fled the crash and urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact Crime Stoppers.
