Australian heavyweight Teramoana Teramoana sealed an eighth successive first round knockout in devastating fashion as he dispatched Bowie Tupoa with frightening ease in Melbourne.

The 28-year-old, who now moves to 11-0, continued to live up to the billing as one of the best prospects in the blue-riband division by backing his opponent up against the ropes and unloading a series of punches that sent Tupoa’s eyes rolling to the back of his head.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said of the KO: “That was one of the scariest knockouts I’ve seen. This guy’s got devastating power.

“These are the kind of opponents you have to go through on the way to the top. They’re the kind of opponent you hope will give you rounds… This is going to be a huge star. He’s got power in both hands and he’s a giant of a man.”

While Teremoana added: “I believe I’m world championship potential… I’m excited to be busy.

“I’ve got to earn my stripes. Anyone who steps in the ring, I’ll take them out.”

It came little more than an hour after Aussie lightweight Jesse Bolt produced a huge knockout of his own to kick off a huge night of boxing at the Melbourne Pavilion.

Bolt, 21, destroyed Faavesi Isaako, rocking him and then flattening him in the second round of their lightweight contest.

In the main event, Queensland’s Skye Nicolson defended her WBC Interim World Super Bantamweight Title with a shutout victory over New Zealander Mariah Turner.

Devastating KO kicks off Nicholson fight card

Nicolson, 30, was in complete control throughout, winning all 10 rounds, while Turner also had a point taken off for using her head.

Nicolson is now mandatory for world champion Ellie Scotney’s WBC strap as she eyes life-changing super fights later this year.

After beating Turner, the Aussie said: “We had a great fight and I hope we inspired the next generation of girls watching.

“I want super fights. I want to be undisputed. Ellie Scotney you’ve got all the belts. Lets’ make it happen.”

Crowd favourite Jake Wyllie also produced an impressive stoppage of Miles Zalewski, while Omar El-Abdallah outpointed Alivereti Dodomo.

Below is a full breakdown of the card — which was promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
