Tesla Australia has confirmed that a blaze at its Parramatta showroom is the result of a “suspected arson attack” rather than a problem with its cars.

Police are collecting evidence from the scene on Church Street, Parramatta, where fire erupted in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A statement released by NSW Police said emergency services rushed to the scene just after 3.20am “following reports of multiple vehicles found alight”.

Tesla Parramatta showroom firebombed

The showroom is in an area where many manufacturers have car dealerships, but no showrooms for rival brands were damaged.

“Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended the scene and Fire and Rescue NSW arrived to extinguish the blaze,” police said.

“Police understand three vehicles were destroyed and part of the building was damaged by the fire.

“There were no injuries reported.”

A Tesla spokesman said the manufacturer was co-operating with authorities.

“Tesla Australia has confirmed a Tesla Store has been the subject of a suspected arson attack overnight, the building has suffered fire damage with several vehicles being caught in the fire,” he said.

“Tesla has confirmed this is not a vehicle or battery related fire. Police are now investigating the arson attack on the building. “

Video posted to Tiktok shows three cars ablaze at the showroom.

X user Phil K said “Someone has burnt out all the Tesla cars at the Parramatta Garage… Scum bags – I was going get one of those!”

This is not the first time a Tesla showroom in Australia has been vandalised.
The manufacturer was targeted by protestors around the globe in 2025 following Elon Musk’s involvement in President Donald Trump’s inauguration, and Musk’s role in the “Department of Government Efficiency” tasked with reducing public spending.

Police have established a crime scene and commenced and established investigation into the incident.
