A police spokesman said: “Following a review of our systems using the limited information available to us, we can find no evidence of these allegations being reported to Surrey Police.

“We are therefore engaging with relevant agencies to obtain access to the redacted information.

“We take all reports of child abuse seriously and encourage anyone with information in relation to these allegations to report this to us.”

The Surrey force would not confirm what agencies it was seeking information from. The Times of London reported it would contact the FBI.

The document containing the allegations was one of 11,000 published by the US department of justice on Monday.

It emerged on Wednesday that more than 1 million more documents “potentially related” to the case have been uncovered and are expected to be published at a later point.

In the FBI document, the complainant’s name, date of birth, phone number and address are all redacted.

At the time of the alleged incidents, Andrew was still serving in the Royal Navy. He was also navigating the end of his marriage to Sarah Ferguson, with their divorce finalised in 1996.

The Epstein files include multiple unproven claims of criminality involving Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles this year over his friendship with Epstein.

Files published early this week revealed that Andrew asked Maxwell to find him some “inappropriate friends”.

In another exchange, Maxwell asked an unknown recipient whether Andrew could be set up with “fun girls” during a royal trip to Peru.

He has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein or Maxwell.
