OKC thrash Lakers as Luka Doncic exits with hamstring issue ahead of MRI scan

Luka Doncic was forced to leave the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder early after suffering a left hamstring strain, in a heavy 139-96 defeat in OKC.

According to ESPN, Doncic will undergo an MRI on Friday to assess the extent of the injury.

The Lakers star first appeared to hurt his hamstring late in the first half before aggravating it midway through the third quarter.

He was seen doubling over in pain and later lying on the baseline before leaving the court with 7:39 remaining in the third quarter.

Despite the discomfort, he was able to walk to the locker room on his own.

Doncic finished with 12 points, four rebounds and seven assists but struggled overall, shooting 3-for-10 from the field and committing six turnovers.

The injury capped a difficult night for the Lakers who were outscored by 25 points during Doncic’s time on the the court.

Meanwhile Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with a strong performance recording 28 points, seven rebounds and seven assists through three quarters.

The loss comes after a strong March for Los Angeles, where Doncic was named Western Conference Player of the Month.
