Nathan Cleary has revealed his younger brother, Jett, will be working against him and the Panthers this weekend by playing the role of his famous brother during opposed sessions.

Jett Cleary has helped the Warriors’ reserve-grade team rocket to the top of the NSW Cup ladder – but the 20-year-old will play an even more important role ahead of Saturday’s elimination final against the Panthers at a rocking Go Media Stadium in Auckland.

Jett will mimic his older brother by presenting the same attacking shapes the Warriors can expect from the premiers.

His style and action has been described as eerily similar to those of Nathan, who is often described as the best player in the game.

“When you see the two of them and the way they play, they look identical,” injured Warriors skipper Mitch Barnett said. “Nath is just a bit more solid, but Jett will grow into his body and hopefully be at the Warriors a long time.”

Nathan certainly saw the funny side of Jett’s double agent role. “I didn’t even think about it until dad [Penrith coach Ivan Cleary] brought it up,” said Cleary. “Me and dad were speaking about how he will have to run as me at opposed sessions.

“I spoke to Jett on Sunday, but it was just to catch up, and not about training. He was asking me for any tips to try and give to them. I said, ‘Don’t worry about that, you just play your game’.

“I’m excited for our finals series, but I’m excited for Jett to be around the Warriors and an NRL finals game.”
