Margaret Cho finally reveals why she turned down ‘Heated Rivalry’ role

Margaret Cho has revealed the shocking reason why she turned down a role in Heated Rivalry.

The 57-year-old actress recently made an appearance on Matteo Lane and Nick Smith‘s podcast I Never Liked You, where she shared that she rejected a role in the hit TV series “all because of Trump.”

“Last year, I got a pilot script for a show that I really loved, but it shot in Canada, and I was so scared because I’m so vocal about hating ICE and hating this administration,” recalled Margaret. “I was like, I will get detained at the border and I will be put in ICE detention if I go.”

“And I was was struggling over it. I had to talk to all of these people about it,” she continued. “And I was super upset about it, and I said ‘no.’ And it was Heated Rivalry.”

Despite rejecting the role, Margaret said she watched a Heated Rivalry, adding, “I hosted some re-watch parties, and it kills me. Like, it kills me, and it’s all because of Trump.”

“The pilot was beautiful, and I was like, I want to do this,” the actress also noted.

For those unversed, Heated Rivalry was released on HBO Max on November 28, 25. Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams played the lead roles in the LGBTQ+ hockey series.
