There was nothing unclear about it, Oblique Seville is the fastest man in the world. And once more Jamaicans are the quickest men in the world with the Caribbean nation winning the quinella.

Seville has won gold at the world championships in Tokyo in 9.77seconds from fellow Jamaican Kishane Thompson in 9.82 with six-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist Noah Lyles winning bronze in 9.89.

The win reasserted the Caribbeans’ mantle as the sprint kings, winning the first Jamaican world championships sprint gold since Usain Bolt in 2015. Bolt did though win the sprint gold double at the Rio Olympics a year later.

“This is the next generation,” Seville said.

In the women’s final moments earlier Melissa Jefferson-Wooden was imperious against one of the most decorated fields ever seen. The American won gold in 10.61 seconds from Tina Clayton 10.76s and Olympic champion Julien Alfred in 10.84s.

“It was amazing … I just had to hit the line,” Jefferson-Wooden said.
