Livigno: Australian Jakara Anthony has missed a podium finish at the 2026 Olympics after a slip in the final.

The 2022 Olympic gold medallist was the heavy favourite for gold after a stunning first run which saw her top the scoresheet with an 83.96.

But the 27-year-old – who was last down the slopes – fumbled her final run and finished in eighth with a score of 60.81.

“Pretty bummed to be honest, I definitely had what it took, but it wasn’t my day today unfortunately,” Anthony told Nine after the final.

It’s a devastating end to Anthony’s individual event after she was the clear front-runner through all stages of competition. However, she will have another chance to win a gold medal when she takes to the slopes again for the dual moguls on Saturday.

“Another four years time, that’s how the Olympics works, but, lucky enough this time around we’ve got a duals comp too,” she said.

“So, actually, only a couple more days time, so not so bad when you look at it like that.”

Anthony said she would have to assess where it went wrong once she had time to process it.
