NASCAR has been rocked by a devastating crash just 15 laps into the second stage at Talladega on Sunday.

A whopping 26 cars sustained damage, with only four escaping the chaos unscathed, according to FOX USA’s broadcast.

Bubba Wallace was leading the race from the middle lane before he got hit hard from behind and slid up the track into Cole Custer, with Wallace turning into the outside wall.

Those behind him then got clattered into as the cars came back down the track.

The race was immediately red-flagged, as several vehicles needed to be towed off the track.

Fortunately, all drivers were checked and released from the infield care centre, and there were no reported injuries from the massive wreckage.

Joey Logano, who was sitting two cars behind Wallace when the crash began, said that with the tight, aggressive racing on display, it is always bound to happen.

“They just started wrecking above me there,” Logano said on FOX.

“I was getting as low as I can to try to avoid it and everyone was trying to do the same thing, trying to get low, and caused the big crash at Talladega.

“You’ve got round bumpers on these things, the cars are unstable and once everyone starts pushing and racing aggressively, it’s going to happen.

“Until we fix that stuff, we’re going to continue seeing it, unfortunately. Unfortunately, today we’re the ones that got caught up in it.”

It is yet another incident on a track that has seen more motorsports mayhem than any other in the United States.

Back in October 2024, the playoff race at the track saw a 28-car pileup, setting a new record for the biggest wreck in Cup Series history.
