Spanish culture minister on fate of Kanye West’s concert in Spain

Despite Kanye West making a comeback to mainstream music, scores of his shows in Europe were axed.

The reason was simple: his past anti-Semitic outbursts.

However, Ye has on multiple occasions apologised for his hateful rhetoric.

But a section of the masses is still unsure over the reliability of his promises.

Yet, the rapper’s concert in Spain, it appears, is not under the threat of being cancelled by the government.

According to Fotkai, a site covering the music industry, the country’s culture minister, Ernest Urtasun, hinted at the possibility.

However, he made it clear that Ye’s antisemitic remarks were “unacceptable” and “repugnant”.

But Urtasun says the government has no mandate to regulate private concerts.

This statement sends West’s fanbase into euphoria.

But the organisers could pull the plug if push comes to shove.

Other European countries similarly have scrapped the shows at the eleventh hour in the wake of mounting pressure.

Nevertheless, West’s performance in Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano on July 30 is still on schedule.

His show, if it takes place, will mark his first performance in Spain in almost two decades.
