A fugitive who vanished for nearly two years has finally been caught after police found her crammed inside an airconditioning vent in the US.
Kayla McKenzie was arrested in Georgia after allegedly evading authorities since 2024.
The dramatic discovery came when investigators acting on a tip swooped on a home in Moultrie, around 56 kilometres from Grady County, The Sunreports.
But instead of a straight forward arrest, officers made a bizarre find.
According to the Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Ms McKenzie was allegedly hiding inside the vent of an air conditioner on the ground.
The wanted woman had been on the run for nearly two years on an outstanding felony bench warrant.
Deputies, working alongside the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office, secured the property and carried out a search – eventually uncovering her hiding spot.
Ms McKenzie was taken into custody without incident on Monday.
She will now face charges linked to her outstanding warrant, officials said.
It remains unclear whether she will face additional charges tied to her time on the run.
Details about legal representation or any plea have not yet been released.
