Western Australia’s former “State Daddy” Mark McGowan is now helping others become dads in a new role at a fertility clinic.
Oasis Fertility Centre Perth shared the news of their latest arrival in a clip posted to social media welcoming the former premier at a morning tea.
“We are pleased to welcome former Premier Mark McGowan to Oasis as an advisor,” the post read.
“Mark served WA as premier for over six years and was a member of parliament for over 26 years.
“His wealth of experience and knowledge will be helpful to the Oasis team moving forward.
“Mark’s leadership experience, deep understanding of Western Australia, and decades of public service will bring valuable insight as Oasis continues to grow.”
Mr McGowan became so popular while leading WA through its Covid-19 response that he earnt the reputation as “State Daddy.”
He was criticised by some politicians and commentators on the east coast over his handling of the pandemic, but mostly enjoyed a rock star status in WA.
Some people even had his image tattooed on parts of their bodies.
However, extreme anti-vaxxers caused the Premier concern when they allegedly threatened to “behead” him and his children.
It came after Mr McGowan announced mandatory Covid vaccinations for many workforces.
He repeatedly urged people not to listen to “crazy conspiracy theories”.
In 2023, Mr McGowan made a bombshell announcement that he was standing down as premier and retiring from politics.
