Jaydn Su’A has reportedly told Dragons teammates he is leaving the club.

Code Sports first reported the bombshell news on Saturday with the Queensland State of Origin star close to securing a move to Parramatta for the 2027 NRL season.

On a week where things keep going from bad to worse for the club, Su’A’s reported decision not to extend his contract with the club is a hammer blow.

The Dragons were beaten 28-18 by Manly on Friday as the club registered its 10th consecutive loss.

It followed a tumultuous week where it was reported club officials made a decision not to enter into further negotiations with the group of players who still do not have a contract for the 2027 season.

Queensland forward Su’A had been expected to activate a clause to trigger a 12-month extension to remain in the red and white.

However, his future has taken a dramatic turn with the 28-year-old now reportedly walking away from the extension.

Dragons pause Flanagan deal talks

Code Sports reports Su’A informed teammates of his backflip via a message shared on the players’ WhatsApp group.

Su’A’s reported decision to walk out is another kick in the guts for under-pressure coach Shane Flanagan, who is facing the axe as a result of the club’s 0-6 record this season.

Su’A was one of many players left contemplating their futures at the club following senior figures’ decision to put all contract negotiations on hold.

That edict has left at least eight players in limbo.

Co-captain Damien Cook is the highest profile player who has not yet agreed to a deal for 2027.

Once a highly-touted recruit, Luciano Leilua is also among the group that don’t have a contract for 2027.

Blake Lawrie, Emre Guler, Hame Sele, Christian Tuipulotu, Nathan Lawson and Tyrell Sloan are the other players who have been given the cold shoulder.

The future of fullback Clinton Gutherson is also uncertain.

Code Sports reported this weekend Dragons officials are chasing Dolphins livewire Trai Fuller in a move that could see Gutherson lose his No. 1 jumper.

Gutherson was dropped for the club’s loss to Manly, but earlier spoke out in defence of Flanagan.

“We’re letting him down,” Gutherson told AAP.

“He does tireless work, Shane. He leaves no stone unturned. Him and Mick and Deano. We’re just not doing it.

“We had every chance to do it in the first four weeks and we didn’t.

“And then (Saturday night) we just didn’t get a chance to play the footy we wanted to and you can’t do that in the NRL.”
