Australian cricketing legend David Warner has been charged with drink driving after he allegedly blew more than double the legal limit, following a random breath test.

In a statement, NSW Police said officers were conducting stationary random breath testing along Malabar Rd in Maroubra about 5.30pm on Sunday.

“A van was seen to allegedly stop short of the testing site and park,” a police spokesman said.

Officers approached the vehicle and subjected Warner, 39, to a roadside test which allegedly returned a positive result.

“He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104,” NSW Police said.

Warner has been issued a court attendance notice for drive with middle-range PCA.

He will front Downing Centre Local Court on May 7.

Warner retired from international cricket in 2024 but still captains the Sydney Thunder in the domestic Big Bash League.
