A four-year-old boy has been killed after he was hit by a car in a suburban street regional NSW.

Emergency services were called to on Ingrid Place in Dubbo around 6.40pm on Wednesday night after reports a child had struck by a car.

The four-year-old boy was treated on the scene before he was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital, but he died shortly after arriving at the hospital, NSW Police said.

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene.

The site of the tragedy has been established as a crime scene, with investigations pending.

The woman was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for “mandatory testing” NSWP Police said. She was released from police custody with further inquiries into the incident pending.

No one else was reported injured.

Anyone with any information, dashcam or phone footage have been encouraged to come forward to aid with police inquiries by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or contacting Dubbo Police Station.
