Bob Odenkirk recently reflected on how he defeated death after suffering a near-fatal heart attack on the set of Better Call Saul.

In his recent interview with The Times U.K., the 63-year-old American actor and screenwriter revealed that he crumpled to the ground while shooting the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul, a prequel to Breaking Bad, in 2021.

His co-stars Patrick Fabian and Rhea Seehorn ran to grab him and “were screaming,” but due to social distancing, as it was the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, “there were delays in reacting because we were all so far apart from each other,” shared Odenkirk.

“I was gone. I turned grey. Eventually the on-set medic showed up and he didn’t know what to do. He’d never done CPR,” the Seinfeld actor recalled.

He was given a medically induced coma when he reached the hospital and regained his consciousness after seven days, as he explained, “The first memory I have is leaving the hospital a week after I got there.”

It was the time when Odenkirk became aware that he had suffered a widowmaker heart attack that “involves 100 percent blockage in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery.”

Even though it was the worst time of the Saturday Night Live alum’s life, he now calls it a blessing in disguise.

“That was such a gift, to experience a few weeks where I felt that way about my presence in the world. I felt just very, very delighted and engaged,” Bob Odenkirk stated.
