Livigno: Australian Danielle Scott has won her first Olympic medal with silver in the women’s aerials on Wednesday.

It’s been four Olympics in the making for the 35-year-old from Sydney, who claimed Australia’s sixth medal of the Games.

The result comes 24-years to the day that Australian Chef de Mission Alisa Camplin won her Olympic gold in Salt Lake City in the same event.

Scott’s previous best Olympic result was ninth at Sochi in 2014, but coming off a sensational World Cup season, where she won gold in Lake Placid last month – her first world cup gold since 2023 – Scott headed to Milano Cortina in career-best form to finally claim a podium finish.

She lay down a personal-best score of 117.19 in the first final with a stunning full-full-full – the trick with the highest degree of difficulty, where women ski off the bigger of the two jumps and perform three distinct flips before landing.

She progressed to the final six with a clean slate and jumped last after qualifying first, and put down a 102.17 to finish on the podium.

China’s Mengtao Xu won gold with a score of 112.90, while China’s Qi Shao won bronze.

The result is an amazing turnaround for Scott, whose Olympic bid took a hit late last year, when she suffered a concussion after hitting her head during a jump.
