Impressive Roos skipper Nick Larkey spoke following today’s win in Perth, and he reserved special praise for opposition forward Jake Waterman, who missed a potential game-winning kick with just 40 seconds to go.

Larkey took a moment to speak with Waterman after the siren as well.

“I think we got away with it at the end. We did a lot right and tried to take some momentum away from them as it is very hard to win here,” Larkey told Kayo Sports.

“Waterman is one of the best key forwards in the game, and it is sad to see that happen to anyone when you’ve got the chance [to kick the winner].

“To bounce back … last week was a horrific performance, so to get back up and win was really pleasing.

“As much as we love winning, you hate seeing that [Waterman missing his chance to kick the winner], but he is a gun and I watch a lot of his stuff and would like to play a lot more like him. It’s bad luck, but luck went our way when it hasn’t for a while.”
