A 12-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after his bike collided with a car shortly in a northern Brisbane suburb during rush hour on Thursday.

The pair collided on Riordan Street, in Apsley, about 5.20pm in what police described as a “serous traffic crash”.

The 12-year-old suffered serous injuries, and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed in critical condition to Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Police said the woman who had been driving the car was not physically injured.

Shortly before 7pm, she was assisting police, with investigations into the crash continuing.

Officers urged anyone who might have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to contact police.
