Welcome to our live coverage of the US and Israel’s war on Iran.

Donald Trump has said the US could use “strength and power never seen or witness before” to blow up Iran largest oilfields if it continues to target US ally Qatar.

'Forced, coerced': Iranian official's outrageous soccer team claim

The US president also said it “knew nothing” ahead of time of Israel’s attack on Iran’s gas facilities which Tehran then used as justification for attacking Qatar.

But some US media reports have said that not only did the US know of the impending Israeli attack, it approved.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that The Pentagon is indeed looking for more money, potentially up to $US200 billion ($285bn), in the wake of the Iran conflict. Within no clear timeline being given for when the war could end could be seen as a sign the conflict could go on for longer than expected.

The Pentagon has insisted that Iran’s capability to wage war is done by “90 per cent” but it has now admitted that Tehran does retain “some” power to inflict damage. Iran’s foreign minister has scoffed at the suggestions claiming the country has used only a “fraction of our power”.

Meanwhile, an Iranian official has accused Australia of taking members of the Iranian women’s football team “hostage”.

Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei told ABC’s 7.30 that the footballers “didn’t seek asylum, they were forced to, they were coerced to, they didn’t do it voluntarily”.
