Welcome to our live coverage of the US and Israel’s war with Iran.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of assisting Iran in attacks on US and UK military bases across The Gulf, including a joint US-UK base on Diego Garcia in the Chagos Islands, officially known as the British Indian Ocean Territory.
Speaking in Qatar on Saturday, Mr Zelensky said intelligence reports indicated Russian satellites had been monitoring US military bases in the Middle East, the base on Diego Garcia, and oil facilities across The Gulf region.
He said the intelligence suggested this surveillance information may have been passed to Iran to help carry out the attacks.
His comments came as Qatar and Ukraine signed a defence agreement including co-operation on countering threats from missiles and drones, The Gulf state’s defence ministry said, as Iran pressed an aerial campaign against its neighbours.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned an Israeli strike that killed three journalists, including one for Hezbollah’s Al Manar TV and another for the pro-Hezbollah Al Mayadeen channel, in southern Lebanon as “a blatant crime”.
Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine said nine medics were killed in south Lebanon on Saturday while carrying out rescue missions, as well as five who were on duty for Hezbollah-allied Amal movement’s Risala Scouts.
Pakistan is preparing to host foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey for talks about the Middle East war on Sunday.
