A picture depicting Donald Trump as Jesus Christ has been deleted from the president’s Truth Social account following a wave of backlash.
The AI-generated picture, which was posted to Truth Social on Sunday night (Monday AEDT), showed Trump in a robe with his hand on the forehead of a bedridden man. Light surrounds the man’s head, and an orb of light floats in the president’s other hand.
“I did post it. I thought it was me as a doctor,” Trump told reporters at the White House, denying claims he was meant to appear as Jesus.
“It was supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better,” he said.
He accused the media of having “come up” with that narrative.
