Father-and-daughter training combination Brett and Georgie Cavanough are out to make an impact at Armidale on Tuesday with a trio of chances lining up for the Scone stable.
The pair were well represented at their home-track meeting on Monday and turn their attention to Armidale, where last start-winner Xerxes steps out in the Tooheys New Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1900m) with Mikayla Weir taking the ride.

“He’s a horse that had been showing his share of ability with seven placings to his name before he managed to break through with his maiden win at Gunnedah last time out,” said Brett Cavanough.
“It was good to see him get the job done by a big margin over the mile. He steps up in trip again at Armidale and all indications are that he’ll handle that, so we are looking forward to another strong showing. Mikayla won on him at Gunnedah, and she’ll stick with him.”
Nick Palmer will take the ride on the Cavanough-prepared Territory Style when it lines up for just its second race start in the Hahn Premium Light Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1100m).
“He won a trial at Muswellbrook and then we took him to Dubbo for his first start, and he wasn’t beaten too far when finishing fourth,” Cavanough said.
“He worked to the line well enough in that over 1000m and the extra 1000m looks up his alley at Armidale. Race To Arms won the race at Dubbo before losing it on protest and came out and confirmed the form with an impressive win at Coonamble on Sunday.”
The Cavanoughs round out their day at Armidale when Aaron Bullock hops aboard City Gold Speed for the stable in the Hahn Super Dry Country Boosted Class 1 Handicap (1400m).
City Gold Speed has a win and four placings from just seven starts, with Cavanough confident the gelding can run well again.
