Rich Eisen is set to return to ESPN’s SportsCenter for the first time in more than two decades, marking a nostalgic moment for the veteran broadcaster.
According to an ESPN press release, Eisen will host the midnight edition of the programme on Sunday into Monday from the network’s Bristol, Connecticut studios.
The appearance will be his second return to SportsCenter and his first time hosting in Bristol in over 20 years.
Eisen, who rose to prominence during his original stint on the show from 1996 to 2003, said he is looking forward to being back.
“I’m fired up to return to my old stomping grounds to host an old school SportsCenter on such a big sports night just like back in the day,” he said.
“I’m so fortunate to have that opportunity and can’t wait to get back in the chair. Plus, my BlackBerry charger has been missing for what seems like forever and hope I maybe left it there somewhere.”
During his earlier run, Eisen frequently co-hosted alongside the late Stuart Scott.
After leaving ESPN in 2003, Eisen joined the NFL Network, where he remains a key figure. He currently hosts The Rich Eisen Show and covers major NFL events including the draft and regular-season games.
