A West Australian woman who will be sentenced next month after falsely claiming her two-year-old son had cancer is also facing fraud charges in Queensland.
Sarah Jayne Kelly, 30, was denied bail in Perth’s District Court on Tuesday after a judge deemed her an unacceptable flight risk, having previously skipped bail and fleeing the state.
Sarah Jayne Kelly, 30, is due to be sentenced after lying about her children’s medical conditions.
The court was also told there was a warrant out for the mother-of-four’s arrest in Queensland after she was hit with fraud charges, but failed to appear before the local magistrate.
Kelly was arrested in Esperance last year and charged with having care or control of a child engaging in conduct that was reckless and may have resulted in that child suffering, but then fled to New South Wales with her husband Jacob Kelly and their children. She was later extradited to WA, where she was further charged with breaching bail.
Kelly was charged again in April this year after she submitted a false medical certificate to the court. She has pleaded guilty to all of her WA charges.
The WA offences related to multiple unsubstantiated claims made by Kelly on social media and on fundraising platforms that her children had leukaemia, cerebral palsy and a brain tumour.

The court has previously heard Kelly underwent a double mastectomy and later a breast reconstruction, telling friends and family she was suffering from breast cancer despite never being diagnosed with the disease.
Judge Laurie Levy has put off a decision on the 30-year-old’s bail application multiple times, ordering reports as to the suitability of Kelly being released back to the home she shared with her children.
