A music teacher who sexually abused a student when he was just 12 years old and then gave birth to his baby has had her bail extended.

Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, was not required to appear in the Perth District Court on Friday as she awaits sentencing over 15 child sexual abuse charges.

Craig admitted to sexually abusing a child over a 16-month period between 2024 and 2025 when she pleaded guilty to all charges in the Mandurah Magistrates Court last month.

Police believe Craig gave birth to the victim’s baby in January when he was aged just 13 years old.

Her lawyer Michael Tudori told the court they were waiting for a psychiatrist to produce a psychological report which they would need time to assess it and asked for the matter to be adjourned.

Registrar Jacquie Kubacz extended Craig’s bail until the next hearing and adjourned the matter until July 3.

The former teacher pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual penetration of a child aged under 13 years and five counts of sexual penetration of a child aged over 13 and under 16 years.

She also pleaded guilty to one count each of indecent dealing with a child under 13 years, indecent dealing with a child aged over 13 and under 16 years, a person who persistently engaged in sexual conduct with a child aged under 16 years, and possession of child exploitation material.

Craig was employed as a teacher at the Frederick Irwin Anglican School at Meadow Springs near Mandurah, about 50km south of Perth.

Her teaching licence was suspended after she was charged.

Police Commissioner Col Blanch confirmed last month that a DNA test had been conducted and police believed the woman gave birth to a baby in January that was fathered by the child she is accused of sexually assaulting.
