The 56-year-old singer gave a powerful performance featuring all her hits from over the years but something seemed “off” to fans.
Moreover, real concern arose when the Last Christmas hitmaker appeared on stage to receive her Video Vanguard Award.
Eagle-eyed fans quickly took to social media and expressed their worries over how Carey seemed stiff and seemed to have difficulty in moving.
“Mariah Carey is looking like it’s super painful for her to walk and move??? Is she okay?” a social media user wrote on X, while another echoed, “Mariah Carey okay? She seems a little off.”
Another chimed in, “Why doesn’t Mariah Carey’s body move when she performs?” while one commented, “My girl doesn’t even try anymore, and I’m okay with that. She is the Mariah Carey.”
As she received her first VMA, Carey took a dig at the MTV officials for snubbing her over the years.
“I can’t believe I’m getting my first VMA tonight, and I just have one question. What in the sam hell were you waiting for?” she asked.
