A man has been stabbed and two others have been rushed to hospital after a brawl broke out at a home in Sydney’s west.

More than 20 people were involved in a wild punch-on in Merrylands, which bystanders caught on camera.

Violence broke out after “a number of uninvited people” tried to enter a Mark St home during a family gathering at about 1.30pm on Sunday, police say.

“Officers have been told a fight broke out on the nature strip involving 15-20 males armed with weapons including knives, batons, poles and a shovel,” a NSW Police spokeswoman said.

“Police understand they are known to one another… numerous calls to triple-0 were received; however, most men fled the scene on police arrival.

“A crime scene has been established and enquiries are under way.”

One witness told 7 News that he saw “around 20 men throwing punches at each other”.

“I did see some metal rods, maybe a hammer,” he said.

Three men were taken to hospital by paramedics, with a fourth presenting at hospital without assistance.

A 22-year-old man received a pair of stab wounds to the back, and two men, aged 57 and 61, received facial injuries.

All are in a stable condition and no injuries are considered life-threatening.
