Gateway ramps up drilling near Wiluna as gold nuggets point the way

Fuelling enthusiasm, Gateway says a prospector has reported finding a further 19 gold nuggets totalling 23.2 grams, unearthed via metal detecting near the company’s area of operations at Great Western.

Gateway Mining executive chairman Andrew Bray said: “Exploration is expanding aggressively on multiple fronts leading into the conclusion of the 2025 calendar year. The arrival of a second diamond rig at Yandal ensures that all key holes will be completed prior to programs wrapping up for the year.”

The angular pieces of gold range in weight from 0.2g to 7.6g and were found at depths between 5–20 cm in clusters across three promising settings.

These include sheared margins linked to the Northern Archean Block – bounded on its east and west flanks by the regional-scale Great Western Shear and Nabberu Shear respectively – and also along both the eastern and western contacts of the prominent, more than 6km-long sheared dolerite unit.

While the nugget collection is not always indicative of broader abundance or overall prospectivity of the locality – and Gateway stresses that further work is needed to understand the nuggets’ provenance – the precious yellow metal haul goes a long way towards reinforcing the corridor’s low-hanging fruit status.

The company has already earmarked one stratigraphic diamond hole to probe the sheared dolerite contact, with a second hole planned for the pronounced dilation zone north of the Northern Archean Block, both of which appear to be spatially-associated with the nugget occurrences.

Complementing the subsurface gold-search at Yandal, a high-resolution ground gravity survey in progress along the Great Western splay structure is about 60% complete.

Results are expected to sharpen geophysical models that will guide site selection for the imminent diamond drilling which will target prime contacts, including dolerite/mafic-intermediate interface and the dilation zone.

Analytical results from both aircore and diamond campaigns are slated to begin flowing shortly, promising results that the company hopes will highlight a transformative year.

Meanwhile, at Gateway’s 80%-held Glenburgh South gold project which adjoins Benz Mining’s 510,100 ounce gold powerhouse, about 260km east of Carnarvon, the company’s high-resolution aeromagnetic and radiometric survey flagged in October is now airborne.

The 46,728 line-km program is being undertaken by geophysical consultants MAGSPEC at 50m line spacings across about 620 square kilometres, zeroing in on structural trends and alteration halos to support next year’s boots-on-ground exploration, including initial mapping and surface geochemistry.

Also, a significant 13km-long historical gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly with a peak response of 6.6 parts per billion (ppb) gold looms untested at Glenburgh, priming this wildcard for early follow-up in the next field season.

Gateway enters its upcoming field activities with solid firepower to undertake its planned exploration from now through 2026, with about $13.1m cash in the kitty and liquid securities at the end of the September quarter, bolstered by a post-quarter $22.5m capital raise to fuel about $15m of upcoming exploration.

The multi-pronged blitz positions the company to deliver steady news-flow through December and beyond into next year.

Gateway looks set to ride high on the trajectory of a possible resource update to Yandal’s existing 8.17 million tonnes averaging 1.52g/t gold for 400,400 ounces – inherited from its acquisition of Strickland Metals’ interest in August 2025 – and Glenburgh’s blue-sky upside also cannot be ignored.
