David Perron traded to Red Wings by Senators for conditional 2026 draft pick

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired veteran forward David Perron from the Ottawa Senators in a trade announced on Thursday.

According to the Red Wings, Detroit sent Ottawa a 2026 conditional fourth round pick as part of the deal.

Under the terms of the trade, the pick will remain a fourth round selection if Perron plays in at least one regular season or playoff game for Detroit.

However the pick will upgrade to a 2026 third round pick if the Red Wings reach the second round of the playoffs and Perron appears in 50 percent of the first round games.

Perron, 37, spent the past year and a half with the Senators. During that time he recorded 19 goals and 22 assists in 92 games.

This season he has registered 10 goals and 15 assists in 49 games. Perron has not played since January 20 after suffering a groin injury.

Before joining Ottawa, Perron played two seasons with Detroit, where he recorded 103 points, including 41 goals and 62 assists, in 158 games.

Across his NHL career Perron has totalled 809 points with 329 goals and 480 assists in 1,223 games, along with 110 playoff appearances.

He is currently in the final year of a two year $8 million contract.
