Welcome to our live coverage of the US and Israel’s conflict with Iran.

A photograph has emerged of a missile scrawled with a message from Iran’s new leader. It suggests the regime has no intention of backing down.

Iranian TV showed a photo of the rocket with the words “At your service, Sayyed Mojtaba”. He is the son of slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and has been named as the new leader.

Tehran did not consult Donald Trump as to who would be Khamenei’s successor, as he demanded.

The US president as threatened to “take him out”.

In a message to Mojtaba Khamenei, Russian autocrat Vladimir Putin declared Moscow’s “unwavering support” for Iran’s dictators.

Oil has passed the $US100 ($142) a barrel mark, the highest it has been since 2022 when Russia invaded Ukraine.

Despite Iran’s president apologising to countries in the region over the weekend and saying that Tehran would not attack them unless attacked itself, missiles have been intercepted over the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Turkey.

Mr Trump has said the war will stop when he and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu have made a “mutual” decision.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has insisted the world will be a “safer and better place” when the war is done. He stated the goal was to stop the Iranian regime making missiles and destroy its navy.

Mr Rubio said every day Tehran was being weakened and had less ability to wage war.
