Channing Tatum attended the L.A. premiere of Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle on September 9 at the TCL Chinese Theater, and he exclusively told People magazine that his starring role in the manga and anime series franchise has gone down very well with his 13-year-old daughter, Everly.
“Stories are important. They’re very, very, very important, and this one, specifically for me and my daughter, is very important,” he said, adding that he scored some “cool dad points” for voicing the character Keizo in the show.
Everly accompanied her dad on the red carpet, looking all grown up in a pale blue, ruffled, off-the-shoulder gown.
Tatum and ex-wife Jenna Dewan welcomed their daughter in 2013 before separating in 2018. These days, the Step Up alums are successfully co-parenting the newly minted teenager.
The Blink Twice star has previously spoken about the challenges and rewards of being a single father to a daughter. “When I became a single father, I had a lot of fear about connecting to Everly in every way that a little girl might want,” he said in 2021.
“I didn’t wear nail polish or know how to braid hair.” “But I jumped with both feet into this magical world and I was rewarded with a kind of love that I don’t think I would have ever been able to have otherwise,” he added.
The actor’s experience parenting Everly has inspired him to write his first children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella. The proud dad dedicated the book to his girl, “To Everly, the most brilliant magical being that I have ever known,” he wrote in the inscription.
“You are my greatest teacher.” Tatum has since released a second book in the series, and in 2022, he announced that Sparkella would be adapted into a live-action film starring himself.
Tatum and Everly have a close bond, and they have been spotted together at various events.
