Broncos legend Gorden Tallis has reportedly been involved in a heated exchange outside his former club’s dressing room.

As first reported by Code Sports, Tallis and a Broncos staff member were involved in an animated conversation inside Cbus Super Stadium following the Broncos’ 26-12 Round 5 win over the Titans.

Tallis and the Broncos have been involved in a spiteful war of words in recent year since the club sacked Kevin Walters to appoint premiership coach Michael Maguire.

With Tallis repeatedly, publicly criticising the club’s administration since his former teammate’s axing in 2024, the club took the extraordinary step of removing the Queensland icon’s name from a conference room at the team’s headquarters that had previously been named in his honour.

Fox League responded shortly after by naming one of the network’s broadcasting facilities in his honour.

Fox Sports boss Steve Crawley said at the time the decision to name one room “The Gorden Tallis Theatre” had nothing to do with Tallis’ bitter falling out with his former team.

Relations have continued to deteriorate this year and Code Sports reports it reached boiling point last week inside the Gold Coast Stadium.

According to the report, Tallis gave Broncos staff member Grant Williams a spray outside the club’s dressing room.

Williams, the club’s football media strategic consultant, is reported to have offered Tallis a handshake before it turned heated.

Tallis is reported to be upset with Williams and carried a belief that Williams had spoken to Crawley about Tallis’ criticism of the club.

Code Sports reports the NRL is aware of the incident but is not expected to take any action.

Broncos chief executive Dave Donaghy poured fuel on the burning rift last month by telling staff the administration room named after Tallis had been re-named to acknowledge NRLW legend Ali Brigginshaw.

“Brisbane Broncos recognise the positive contributions and ongoing support of a number of club legends by way of naming various meeting rooms within the Clive Berghofer Centre,” Donaghy said.

“The naming of the Ali Brigginshaw meeting room recognises her outstanding contribution to the Broncos club since the inception of the NRLW program, including leading the Club to four NRLW Premierships.”

Tallis won three premierships with the Broncos in 1997, 1998 and 2000, becoming a club icon as one of the most imposing forwards in the game, also captaining Queensland and Australia.
