Queensland firefighters were unable to save a large family home from an intense blaze in south-west Brisbane on Sunday.

Five fire crews responded to the blaze on Livesay Road in Moggill about 10.20am, but the two-storey Queenslander was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said the building had collapsed in on itself due to the intensity of the flames.

The occupants were not home at the time, and the fire was extinguished by 11.30am.
