Bobrovsky shines as Florida end Boston streak in tight NHL clash

The Florida Panthers held off the Boston Bruins 2-1 in their latest Bruins vs Panthers clash, ending Boston’s four-game winning streak.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves, including 15 in the third period, to secure the win for Florida.

Mackie Samoskevich and Sam Bennett scored early as the Panthers built a 2-0 lead inside the opening eight minutes.

“It was a good game, very fun. Winning is fun and it is great to be with the guys,” Bobrovsky said, per NHL.

“We had lots of young faces, but they stepped up and did a great job. … They are a good team, you know they’re not going to go away. It was going to be a fight. You just try to savor the moment, enjoy the moment.”

Fraser Minten pulled one back for Boston late in the first period, but the Bruins could not find an equaliser despite late pressure.

Boston coach Marco Sturm was critical of his side’s performance: “We didn’t respect our opponent tonight.”

“They had a lot of guys out, and we didn’t do our job. Shame on us today.”

Florida coach Paul Maurice praised his undermanned squad, saying: “Our guys played. They came out right the last two games.”
