A desperate Brisbane hosts Sydney FC on Thursday night in the first of four “grand finals” for a Roar side desperate to save the club’s season before it’s too late.

The Roar haven’t won since January 16, and as a result, have slipped to 10th on the ladder.

By the time their clash with the Sky Blues kicks off at Suncorp Stadium, the Queenslanders could be as many as seven points outside the top-six.

With the Roar having only four regular season games remaining, another loss could all but end Brisbane’s hopes of playing finals football this season.

“It’s four grand finals for us,” Roar attacker Henry Hore said on Wednesday.

“We’re going to leave it all out there and see what happens at the end of the season.

“We’ll take it one game at a time, and try to get four wins.”

The Roar haven’t played since a 2-1 home loss to Wellington Phoenix on March 21.

Since then, Hore said he and his teammates had worked hard on the training paddock in a bid to arrest their form slump.

“With the international break, it has been a good time to reset, and work on a few things on what we can do better,” he said.

“The intensity has gone up and we’re ready to go.”

Hore expected the fifth-placed Sky Blues to have a fresh outlook under new coach Patrick Kisnorbo, who will take charge of Sydney for the first time after being appointed last week as the replacement for previous mentor Ufuk Talay.

“We’re going to have to adapt to his (Kisnorbo’s) new philosophy, but just focus on us and hope we get the three points,” Hore said.

Roar coach Michael Valkanis said his team owed Brisbane fans a win.

“Our supporters are really looking forward to this game at home,” Valkanis said.

“It’s a game we’ve prepared really well for. We know the importance of this one.”
