The Perth Wildcats have confirmed former NBA scorer and playmaker Mason Jones as their replacement for departed legend Bryce Cotton.

Jones joins the Wildcats on a one-season deal after leading the Stockton Kings to the 2024/25 NBA G League championship, where he was named finals MVP.

The 27-year-old American, who previously made 51 NBA appearances, is expected to add versatility and a team-first mentality to Perth.

The signing ends the Wildcats’ long search for another import guard after five-time NBL MVP Cotton’s messy departure was confirmed in March.

Jones will join returning American imports Kristian Doolittle and Dylan Windler, as well as French Next Star recruit Noa Kouakou-Heugue, in John Rillie’s line-up.

“I’m looking forward to getting Mason on the floor with our group as September 20 is fast approaching,” Rillie said in a club statement.

“His scoring ability paired with his skill set to involve his teammates at the offensive end will add a nice dynamic to our group.”

The Wildcats were knocked out in the semi-finals last season and Jones said he was eager to help the NBL power club to their first championship since 2020.

“I’m excited and thrilled to be part of the Perth family,” Jones said.
