Andrew Scott recently talked about playing a brief role in Saving Private Ryan.

The Hollywood Reporter interviewed the 49-year-old Irish actor, who opened up about portraying the part of Soldier on the Beach in Saving Private Ryan, an epic film released in 1998.

Notably, Scott’s part appears in the opening sequence of the film, which was set during the Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach on D-Day.

Sharing his feelings, he said, “I had one line or something, and Tom Hanks rolled over me, and I was very happy to be there.”

“It was an extraordinary thing — it was my first time being on a set of that enormity, and I feel very proud that I got to be a tiny part of that. It’s a sequence that’s gone down in movie history,” the All of Us Strangers star explained.

For those unaware, Saving Private Ryan was based on the true story of four brothers, Robert, Edward, Frederick “Fritz” Niland, and Preston, from Upstate New York and all of them fought in World War II.

It is pertinent to mention that Saving Private Ryan received eleven nominations but secured five awards at the 71st ceremony in 1999.
