Donald Trump has made pointed remarks after Stephen Colbert concluded The Late Show after his 11-year run.

The president of the United States of America took to Truth Social on Friday morning on May 22, and posted a blistering post, celebrating the end of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

He wrote, “Colbert is finally finished at CBS.”

Donald Trumps blunt reaction to Stephen Colberts Late Show finale: He lasted so long

“Amazing that he lasted so long!,” he remarked, claiming, “No talent, no ratings, no life. He was like a dead person.”

Keeping his tone bitter, he added, “You could take any person off of the street and they would be better than this total jerk.”

“Thank goodness he’s finally gone!” Trump’s post concluded.

On Thursday, Stephen bid an emotional farewell to his fans and team, saying they were “lucky enough” to spend “the last 11 years” together.

It is pertinent to mention that CBS announced the cancellation of the show in July 2025.

The cancellation of the show sparked widespread criticism from the public as it came after Stephen commented on the Paramount settlement linked to a Donald Trump legal dispute involving 60 Minutes.

Later, CBS insisted that the decision was made due to “purely financial” reasons.

As Thursday’s episode marked the end of the franchise’s 33-year run, Stephen hosted the show for 11 seasons, while it was previously helmed by David Letterman.
